Open Question: Canada's Balance of Trade and Current Economic State?
Ok! Hi, I am currently analyzing Canada's current economic state and its impact on international trade
http://www40.statcan.gc.ca/l01/cst01/gblec04-eng.htm <- Exports
http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/gblec05-eng.htm <- Imports
http://www40.statcan.ca/l01/cst01/gblec02a-eng.htm <- International Trade
I have to form conclusions and asses the effect of Canada's economy on international trade. Also i need to make predictions but the problem is I really don't have the many resources on things like the 2010 exports and imports and i really don't think I have found everything I can asses... Here's what I already know
-The exports/import drop from 2008 to 2009 is a clear indicator that the recession in Canada has caused a drop in international trade
-Exports such as energy products, industrial, automotive, machinery, and forestry have dropped in exports but not agricultural and others...
-For our imports, the automotive, industrial, machinery, energy have dropped in imports, but not things such as agriculture forestry, and other...
Can anyone give me 2010 statistics evaluating monthly or so, so that I can make some conclusions? Also based on this general information I've given, I'm just curious if anyone has good articles or facts that give information on why certain areas of imports and exports have dropped but not others based on Canada's economy. Also I need to know some specifics relating to some of Canada's major trading partners and why, based on our economy, trade has changed with them (I guess this is more directed to the US)
Oh an any input would be good as well
Thanks

Open Question: How can international producers BENEFIT from subsidies?
"the ministry was invstigating us automotive product imports following compaints from local industries that some of these products are being dumped in the chinese market or are benefiting from subsidies"
isn't this exactly what subsidies DONT do? i'm confused. The whole point of a subsidy is to benefit domestic products and hinder international ones... So how can international products benefit from subsidies?

Resolved Question: this automotive job sucks now, any good advice?
I love cars and would love to own a shop 1 day. I've been at kragen auto over a year now. I was never pushed to really make sales goals just as long as I gave good service and recommend and give customers the products they actually need to keep them coming back and believe me its worked. New management has taken over and all they care about are sales and sales goals and just pushing items on custmers that I know are either irrelevant or don't even work. I've even been written up. I'm a good hearted person and I hate having to push useless expensive items when I know people have more important things to worry about paying like rent and food for their tables and not spending 10 bucks on a fuel injector cleaner that works the same as if ur filling up with chevron or shell gasoline. Should I embark on a job search now where I can actually work on the car instead of selling crap? Like at a SpeeDee Oil change or Jiffylube? Or jus comence on trying to get into an apprenticeship. Seriously sales goals on auto parts? People just need to buy what they need. What's the communty's take on my situation?
i want to add that i feel very blessed with the job i have right now. i know there are thousands of people who have it worse than i do. just a young guy with a good heart and my job is actually slippin away from under my feet all cuz of this new dedication to sales instead of focsuing on what really drives the automotive indutry and thats good service and quailty
